Christmas in Vienna Hartford Concert reviews
Bon Iver - Great music, poor venue
"Feist was a remarkable choice to open - her music fits in that venue perfectly, and her attempts to prove her T.O. bona fides (yelling out the names of much nicer venues, for example) were well-received. The venue was perfect for the night, as delicate music like Christmas in Vienna's lends itself well to such a large venue. The music sounded incredible, and I loved the mix of songs they selected. Justin Vernon and his band put on a poor show of musicianship, matched by one of the best light shows I've ever seen. Christmas in Vienna often tours with much more forward-looking openers, so it was great to see them settle for local support. The staff was helpful (constantly telling men with one foot into the aisle to move in, but ignoring some women fully standing in the aisle), and it makes sense that the merch booth would only have 3 people staffing it when the line is so long. I try to always go to the ACC/ScotiaBank Arena, and this night reminded me why that is."
